Traveling with kids can be costly. For those of us on a budget, we really have to make some tough decisions. What attractions in a given area can we do, and which ones will we have to give up? It is always difficult. We want to keep a balance between those places that are just plain fun, and those that educate and inspire us and the kids. One company has made this decision making much easier- CityPASS. This Idaho based company has decided to help us hard working folks to be able to do more and see more on our travels. The staff carefully hand pick a city’s best attractions and then negotiate HUGE discounts on the admission for each attraction. This is NOT your usual “discount booklet” that has each of a thousand advertisers offer their own discount. CityPASS picks out just the TOP few attractions that you will DEFINITELY want to see and then negotiates the prices as a package. This helps us to save big money on major attractions in the top cities.
Our Experience with CityPASS
We had the opportunity to try out the CityPASS for the Tampa Bay area. It actually happened by mistake, we were visiting The Clearwater Museum as a surprise for our daughter who is a huge Dolphin Tale fan. Thankfully the cashier took a few minutes to explain to us what Citypass was all about and how much money it would actually save us. The book includes passes to Busch Gardens, The Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium (home of Hope and Winter from the “Dolphin Tale” movies) and a choice of either The Museum of Science and Industry or the Chihuly Collection. All of this for $107 (adults) or $97 (kids)! Considering that the price of a single day admission to Busch Gardens ALONE is $89- you can see the value here.
For us to visit Busch Gardens, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Lowry Zoo would have cost us a small fortune and to be honest we wouldn’t have done it. This worked out perfectly and another advantage to using CityPass is that you can skip the lines as you already have your tickets!!! Yay, we loved that part. For us, it was a no-brainer and now we would be able to visit the Lowry Park Zoo, which wasn’t even on our radar previously! On a side note, if you get the chance to visit the Lowry Zoo, take it, we were super impressed with this zoo, there was so much to do and see for the kids and some extra treats in there for the kids to enjoy such as the Roaring Springs water adventure, Expedition Africa, Jungle Carousel, Boomers Flyin Bananas and the Tasmanian Tiger Coaster. We highly recommend it AND it wasn’t too busy!
